CPT Coding Module

Evaluation and Management (E/M)

Code Range: 99202 – 99499
Includes office visits, hospital visits, consultations, preventive medicine, and case management.

Anesthesiology

Code Range: 00100 – 01999, plus 99100 – 99140
Includes anesthesia services for surgical, diagnostic, and obstetric procedures.

Surgery

Code Range: 10021 – 69990
Largest section of CPT, divided by body system (integumentary, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, etc.).

Radiology

Code Range: 70010 – 79999
Includes diagnostic imaging (X-rays, CT, MRI, ultrasound), radiation oncology, and nuclear medicine.

Pathology and Laboratory

Code Range: 80047 – 89398
Includes lab tests, pathology procedures, panels, cytology, and other diagnostic tests.

Medicine

Code Range: 90281 – 99607
Includes immunizations, dialysis, psychiatry, ophthalmology, cardiovascular, neurology, pulmonary, and other specialized services.

Category II Codes (Performance Measurement): Alphanumeric, ending with F (e.g., 0001F).
Category III Codes (Emerging Technology): Alphanumeric, ending with T (e.g., 0075T).
CPT Modifiers: Two-digit codes appended to CPT to give extra info (e.g., modifier -25, -59).
